Collaboration is about people contributing and working together to complete something, just like builders. We are many people coming together, collaborating both internally and externally. We are collaborating by adding small things to contribute for the greater good.

In some languages and cultures, “c.” has a bad name for historical reasons, and it is a foreign word for which you would have to find a suitable familiar translation.
Collaboration can have several different forms, which might be useful in branding or not.
I don’t think there’s any word that can describe our movement better than this word.
Wikipedia projects are crowd sourced. Users collaborate for the singular purpose of building free content. Collaborators are driven by the need to populate easily accessible knowledge for the greater good.
Wikimedia work is not only done by dispersed individuals. Editors compliment one another’s activities; someone works on technical issues, someone checks against vandalisms, someone may “merely” corrent punctuation, but the collective effort is visible as a page.
